Language Proficiency Exam Online Registration Form

Please do not submit this form until you have read the proficiency test description.

Please note that proficiency exams are offered to current UB students who wish to demonstrate that they have elementary or intermediate-level language proficiency. Passing the proficiency exam will exempt students from the SUNY foreign language General Education requirement, however, it will not grant credit toward graduation. Students may take this test once during their studies at UB.

The proficiency test is administered four times a year in September, October, January, and February. Proficiency tests are available in two languages: French and Spanish. You may only take one test per sitting. Which do you wish to take?

Requests for testing will be accepted up until 24 hours prior to the exam. Students who have made reservations but who need to cancel are asked to contact Dr. Bárbara Ávila-Shah.
