Advisement appointments for majors & minors in French, Italian & Spanish:
Romance Languages & Literatures offers undergraduate courses in French, Italian, and Spanish leading to the major or minor. The first four semesters of college study (101-102-151-152) are considered introductory; these are the equivalent of four years of very intensive high school study (involving AP or honors/accelerated classes). Less intensive secondary school preparation usually places a student into the third (151) or fourth (152) semester of the introductory sequence. 104 may be used to get back in touch with a language if a year or more has elapsed since the last course taken; it provides 101 and 102 content in an accelerated mode. Please use the Placement Information form for individualized help. Students already on the 200 level and above may sign up online during the Fall and Spring semesters as needed for a faculty advising appointment. Romance Languages & Literatures also provides Proficiency Examinations each semester to undergraduates who need them. Transfer students should consult Taurus and SUNY Seamless as appropriate.
