Awards, Funding, & More

Rome colleseum

The Department accepts applications for several named scholarships to be used for study abroad by majors and minors. Applications are accepted in October and March; the specific deadline each semester is circulated on the majors and minors listserv, along with the application itself.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Department awards the Wilma J. Newberry Fund for Spanish majors who wish to study in Spain. The Linda Diana Rock Memorial Scholarship Fund (French or Spanish) and the Maria E. Becker Memorial Scholarship Fund (French) also support undergraduate study abroad.

The College of Arts and Sciences also administers two scholarship funds for international study, the William C. and Annette L. Rock Fund, and the Roberta A. and George E. Stevens For International Experience. Additionally, the CAS Dean’s Scholars Program provides scholarship funds for experiential learning opportunities, including study abroad.
